Born gay…?

Born gay…? Our current generation believes the idea that a person’s sexual orientation and preference are determined for them at birth by God, thus blaming Him for making them gay. Homosexuality is a personal choice and preference. Although it was not directly talked about by Jesus, he could have not stated the standard for sexual orientation more evidently: male to female united together as God intended. In recent times, Christians have been in agreement with and support the gay rights movement. With this topic in the public eye, believers have accepted homosexuality as “the norm.” James 1:22 states, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Scripture demands us to obey God’s commands regarding homosexual behavior  because it is one of the most self-destructive and dangerous behaviors an individual could take part in. Later on in James chapter 1, James addresses those saying, “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.” As Christian’s today faced with the compelling topic of homosexuality, we forget all moral truths once evident to those whose faith was steadfast in the Lord. Our secular society is in need of believers who can appeal to lawmakers and public officials who don’t believe in the teachings of the Bible. It is crucial for Christians to pray for those put in authority over us as they continue to make decisions that affect the lives of God’s people worldwide. In conclusion, in order to make an impact on the world around us, we are to be the “hands and feet” of Jesus spreading the love and good news of God to homosexual people.
