A Case Against Same-Sex Marriage

We live in a very corrupt society. The beautiful world that God created and intended for us to live in has become inhabited with sinful people who do not live life the way God hoped for. God created a perfect world for His people, and in return we sin and turn away from Him. The world has gone through what has popularly been defined as a “four-fold doctrine”. It began with Gods perfect creation of the world and essentially humanity, and continued to the fall of his people. The Lord then sent his son to die for our sins and resurrect and redeem us, but the day of vocation is yet to come. Because of this we are still in a constant state of falling, and sin is continuing to escalate around us. Although there are many sins and acts of corruption taking place around us, I have always taken a special interest in same-sex marriage. People argue that the only component needed in a marriage is mutual love and affection, but the Bible has differing beliefs.

The Bible makes it clear what Gods expectations are for marriage. In the first book of the Bible, God saw that “It [was] not good that the man should be alone; […] So The Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs […] and the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man” (Genesis 2:18-25). From the beginning it is clear what His intentions are for man and woman. That woman should be a helper and a life-long companion for man, and when people believe that it is okay for man to marry man, or woman to marry woman, they directly violate what the Lords intentions were for His people. One of Gods greatest commands of His people is that they should “be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:28), and if His intentions were for same-sex couples to marry, He would have made it possible for them to conceive and have children of their own. In fact, in Leviticus 18:22, God makes the command that “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination”. That is Gods opinion of same-sex relationships. That it is an abomination, and not the proper way to be living your life. Yet in America we praise the allowance of Same-Sex Marriage.

We live in a very corrupt world, where people think it is okay to participate in acts of abomination. We are in a state of falling and sin. Yet our job as Christians is to educate the world, and teach them what we have been taught. The vocation is coming, and God loves all His children equally, so although our world is broken and sinful, we still have time to turn sin over to God and ask for repentance.
